Thomas Tuchel has stated that assembling the most talented footballers does not guarantee creating the most effective squad dynamic. He hinted that even if Jude Bellingham had returned to peak fitness after his shoulder injury, he might still have been omitted from the latest England squad.

England's head coach also indicated that the Arsenal winger's recall may not have happened if his teammate Noni Madueke been available. Tuchel has placed great importance on squad unity in his selection for the upcoming Wales friendly and World Cup qualifier in Latvia.

"We're building the best team," said the England boss, who challenged the traditional thinking that championship teams always select their most dangerous attacking players.

The manager referenced the positive energy during last month's international break where the national team defeated Andorra and excelled against the Serbian team in Bellingham's absence. He saw little justification to alter the group dynamic which delivered those impressive results.

Fitness Considerations

Although the manager partly attributed Bellingham's absence to fitness concerns, he recognized that the player desired selection when they spoke. Tuchel had earlier said sorry to the midfielder for remarks about his on-field conduct.

"Don't you think that attitude on the bench, support from training, and squad unity enables the first team to play at their best?" he questioned.

Tuchel emphasized that his decisions weren't individual targeting specific individuals but instead rewarded those who had performed in the last campaign.

The sole alteration in selection proved necessary with the unfit Madueke being replaced by the recovered Bukayo Saka. The manager explained that even Saka might have missed out had Madueke remained fit.

Additional omissions included Chelsea's Cole Palmer, who remains affected by injury problems. With only two more camps before the World Cup, opportunities are diminishing for some players to impress.

The manager revealed his desire for England's World Cup games to begin at later times because of temperature worries in North America. He acknowledged this might cause viewing difficulties for English fans but maintained player welfare remains the priority.
