The anticipation about The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, particularly after host Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic photo of a desert monolith. The mystery has now been solved. Larian Studios is developing a brand-new Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was showcased with a daring trailer featuring striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the very opening of infernal gates.
A Different Direction
For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio warned that a follow-up to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not currently in development.
That said, the developer described this new Divinity as a evolution of the core franchise. This choice of words suggests that the team might be building a faster-paced experience rather than another turn-based title. Currently, this is speculation, as only a teaser video is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it pioneered the modern wave of deep computer role-playing games. These games are defined by detailed worlds, player agency, and complex character building—qualities that later were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
