Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
